Anti-snipe (auctions)
Anti-snipe extends an auction's close time whenever a bid arrives near the end, preventing last-second wins.
In depth
Anti-snipe (also called soft close) is the auction rule that any bid placed within N seconds of the scheduled end triggers an extension by another N seconds. It's standard on serious auction platforms because it eliminates the sniping tactic and ensures highest genuine willingness-to-pay wins.
