Proxy bidding
Proxy bidding lets a user set a maximum bid; the auction system incrementally bids on their behalf up to that limit.
In depth
Proxy bidding is the mechanic where a bidder submits a maximum price and the auction engine automatically raises their bid by the minimum increment whenever they're outbid, up to their max. This lets bidders participate without watching the clock and keeps auctions from resolving at the visible current bid.
