The brief
OnlyBeaches is a discovery, planning and booking platform for the world's best beaches. The brief was to deliver design, content CMS, an AI recommendation engine that actually understood beach context (season, crowd, water quality, family-friendliness), and a booking revenue layer — all wrapped in an image-first editorial brand.
Architecture & engineering choices
Next.js + a headless CMS for the editorial layer, OpenAI behind a curated knowledge base for recommendations, and a Postgres data layer for beach metadata, itineraries and bookings. The AI recommendation prompt is grounded against editorial content the team has actually written — no hallucinations about beaches that don't exist.
