The brief
PlaySQOR is a daily fantasy and real-money sports gaming platform operating in regulated US markets. The founders came to us with a hybrid product — fantasy contests on one side, real-money sports wagering on the other — and a hard requirement that the compliance posture had to be ready for state-level licensing review on day one. The shortcut path (ship the product, retrofit compliance) was off the table.
Architecture & engineering choices
We delivered iOS, Android and web from a single React Native + Next.js shared-design-system codebase, with a Node + PostgreSQL backend and Redis for the real-time scoring layer. The wagering engine is server-authoritative with per-event limit and risk checks; the fantasy engine runs live scoring and settlement against a sports-data feed with strict ordering guarantees.
Identity, KYC, geo-fencing and responsible-gaming controls are wired in at the boundary, not bolted on later. Every action that touches money goes through a single ledgered surface, which makes the audit story straightforward when state regulators come knocking.
