How we
delivered.
Brief, architecture decisions, what shipped and where it stands now — in our own words.
The brief
VideoShops turns video into shoppable storefronts — tap-to-buy frames, inventory sync and checkout that doesn't kick the user out of the video. The brief was to deliver this as a serious commerce-grade product, not a TikTok-style toy: real inventory sync, real fraud handling, real returns and a UX that creators and brands could both run from a phone.
Architecture & engineering choices
We built the video pipeline on HLS with frame-accurate hotspot metadata, served from a Node + PostgreSQL backend behind Next.js web and React Native mobile clients. The hard problem was synchronizing inventory and price across many merchant integrations in something close to real time, while keeping the player buttery-smooth on cellular networks — we solved it with a per-creator inventory cache + an aggressive invalidation channel.
What we shipped
- Shoppable video player with frame-accurate hotspots and tap-to-buy
- Creator studio for tagging, scheduling and per-clip analytics
- Checkout that keeps users in the video flow with no full-page redirect
- Native iOS and Android companion apps for creators and shoppers
- Merchant inventory sync across multiple commerce integrations
Where it stands now
VideoShops is live and the engagement is ongoing. We continue to extend the platform with new commerce integrations and creator tooling.
